  Au mois d’août Todd Akin, candidat républicain au Sénat dans le Missouri, avait choqué en utilisant « viol véritable » et en assurant qu’en cas de viol le corps fait barrière à la conception. Les vues de Richard Mourdock en matière de biologie sont quelque peu différentes puisqu’à ses yeux ce n’est pas le corps, mais Dieu, qui décide de la conception après un viol.

  Njogu’s breakaway faction, the Renewed Universal Catholic Church, is Catholic in every way except in having optional celibacy for its priests. Its growth in Kenya is rooted in opposition to the practice of keeping secret families but reflects a growing worry among some Catholics that the celibacy requirement — to many a nonnegotiable tenet of the priesthood — creates a harmful culture of sexual secrecy.

  There’s a really deceptive way some evangelical Christian groups proselytize to public school students. They are well aware they can’t just waltz into a school and tell kids about Jesus, so they enter the school under false pretenses — like saying they’re going to give a purely secular presentation. As with so many of these cases, Christians would flip out if a Muslim group did anything like this. It’s telling that so many Christian adults in these schools were willing participants in this whole charade. It needs to stop, and FFRF is demanding both an apology and assurances that it’ll never happen again.

• USA: Teenagers’ Christian magazine is back

  From 1990 to 2009, the conservative evangelical organization Focus on the Family published a magazine for teen girls called Brio. There were a relationship advice column about not having pre-marital sex, a culture column about not listening to music about pre-marital sex, and interviews with young Christian celebrities who were not having pre-marital sex. Brio is back !

  Theories about Trump’s connection with evangelical voters have long been dubiously elegant. The simplest, and perhaps most comfortable for Trump’s bewildered and furious opposition, is that evangelicals are and always were hypocrites, demanding moral rectitude from their enemies that they don’t expect from their friends. “When they call, I give. And you know what? When I need something from them, two years later, three years later, I call them. They are there for me.”
