People’s Tribunal on State Action in UP: Citizenship, Democracy and Protest

People’s Tribunal on State Action in UP: Citizenship, Democracy and Protest.

The tribunal will be held on 16th January 2020, 10.30 am - 6.00 pm at the Indian Society of International Law, Bhagwan Das Road, V.K. Krishna Menon Bhawan, New Delhi (Opposite Supreme Court).

Several organisations, including Constitutional Conduct Group (CCG), Campaign for Judicial Accountability and Reform (CJAR), Anhad, Not in My Name Campaign, National Alliance for People’s Movement (NAPM), Karwan-E-Mohabbat, and others have come together to organize this tribunal that intends to investigate the UP government’s response following the demonstrations against NRC/CAA in the state. It will include expert testimonies, video presentations of the events and the jury’s final verdict.

On the jury for this tribunal are Justice A P Shah, Justice Sudarshan Reddy, Prof Irfan Habib, Justice V Gopala Gowda, Shantha Sinha, Prof Neera Chandhoke, Deb Mukherji, Chaman Lal, Dr. N C Saxena, Arvind Kala, among others.

In this hour of universal deceit and lies, we hope the tribunal will shed some light to reveal the truth.
