Almost half involved women and girls living in London. No link with the fact that Islamist preachers have been advocating for FGM to be practiced by all Muslims the world over, including in Europe ??

India: Release of WeSpeakOut study on Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting among the Bohra community

Releasing survivor group WeSpeakOut’s latest study on Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting today at a press conference in New Delhi Dr. Shashi Tharoor, said, “FGM is an act that has been condemned around the world. For us in India to allow this practise to continue, sanctified as a cultural practise, is a big mistake. When we outlaw it, the practise will cease because the community concerned always has the reputation of upholding the law of the land.”

Female Genital Mutilation Banned In Nigeria.
1 October 2015, by siawi3Nigeria made history by outlawing female genital mutilation. The ban falls under the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act 2015 that was passed in Senate on May 5 and recently enacted into law. This was one of the last acts by the outgoing president, Goodluck Jonathan. His successor, Muhammadu Buhari, was sworn into office this past Friday, May 29.

One does not need to be subjected to the epistemic violence underpinning the grotesque reconstruction of FGM, in the form of a black woman having her clitoris cut off to the sound of a laughing crowd with a fixed gaze, drinks in hand, to raise awareness of this very serious issue.
