Israel: Feminism, Story-telling and the Israeli Occupation
Monday 7 June 2010, by
Dear friends, family and colleagues,
I am proud to announce the publication of Shifting Sands: Jewish Women Confront the Israeli Occupation, edited by Osie Adelfang, an anthology of women writing about the Middle East, with a preface by Amira Hass and foreword by Cindy Sheehan.
An unprecedented book, Shifting Sands is a collection of personal stories with a Jewish anti-occupation perspective by feminists activists, among whom are Starhawk, Anna Baltzer, Alice Rothchild, Holocaust survivor Hedy Epstein (and me).
Our personal experiences of recognizing and finding ways to challenge the injustices being inflicted upon the Palestinian people by the Israeli Occupation are intended to be moving, challenging and ultimately motivating to the reader.
Please circulate information about Shifting Sands to those in your multiple communities you think might be grateful for this volume or perhaps open to wrestling with a feminist perspective on the Occupation. Thank you.
