  Black people fleeing from Sudan and Eritrea have reached us for years after a long and painful trek, crossing the border between Sinai and Israel. The government built a special prison for them. Now it has made a secret agreement with the governments of Ruanda and Uganda : for a payment per head, these countries will receive the immigrants. And suddenly something completely unexpected happened : a moral uprising. After a rising tide of protests and articles, citizens spoke with a new voice. Many pilots announced that they themselves would refuse to fly them. They swore not to be like the German locomotive drivers, who transported the Jews to their deaths in the extermination camps. An elderly woman, a survivor from such a camp, announced on TV that she would hide any refugee seeking her help. She called on all Israeli women to do the same and hide refugees in the attics of their homes. An Israeli voice that has not been heard for a long time.

  Women in Black join the campaign _“Queremos Acoger Ya!”_ (We Want to Welcome Now). World Refugee Day is commemorated on 20 June. In 2015 Europe reached an agreement to redistribute, within two years,120,000 refugees from Italy, Greece, Turkey or Lebanon. The government of Spain committed to take in 17,337 refugees. The period to comply with this obligations ends in September and as of now we have welcomed only some 1,300 persons. ENOUGH EXCUSES, NO MORE BARRIERS, WE WANT TO WELCOME – NOW!

  I am an “outsider within.” I am the descendent of refugees. I work every day to make my ancestors proud. And, right now, that means standing in solidarity with this generation of refugees. After 9-11, “we (immigrants) are all suspects now.” This is called racism. It is the same racism that allowed my grandparents to be suspected of everything from communism to child sacrifices. It is the reason why boats of Jewish children were turned away in the US and Canada and Europe.

  Depuis quelque temps, je suis effrayé de voir comment les Chinois se comportent en Afrique. Ils me font l’effet de nouveaux colonisateurs, ce qui m’est d’autant plus pénible que j’ai grandi dans l’idée que la Chine aidait les pays africains à se libérer. Sur ces agissements je sais des choses que l’on ignore généralement. J’ai vu les Chinois à l’œuvre, au Mozambique et ailleurs en Afrique. La Chine a un problème de surpopulation rurale. Ses 200 millions de paysans ne cessent de s’appauvrir, et un jour ils risquent de se révolter et de « prendre la Bastille », c’est-à-dire de s’attaquer au Parti communiste. Les dirigeants chinois envisagent donc d’exporter le problème et de transplanter en Afrique les paysans les plus pauvres (pas moins de 4 millions d’entre eux !) pour qu’ils y cultivent la terre. De même, ils envoient en Algérie des milliers d’ouvriers, qui bien souvent étaient des prisonniers en Chine. C’est une forme terrible de colonisation, et c’est exactement ce qu’ont fait les Portugais autrefois au Mozambique. On peut faire subir n’importe quoi aux pauvres. Ils sont en train de créer une situation sur laquelle les Africains n’ont aucun contrôle.
