  Burma faces ethnic violence. Has Aung San Suu Kyi ignored the plight of her people? ’Nothing had changed since Suu Kyi’s historic election a year ago’. Residents described a landscape of fear in which members of the Rohingya Muslim ethnic group have allegedly been barred from going to mosques or to work. Human Rights Watch has reported that satellite data shows villages that have been burned, and Reuters and the Myanmar Times have chronicled the alleged rape of Muslim women by soldiers.

  The tens of thousands of people came from across Poland and beyond, and reporters documented their signs: “Clean Blood,” “Pray for an Islamic Holocaust,” “White Europe” . In 2015, the conservative Law and Justice Party took power in Poland, fueled in part by anti-immigration politics that helped put other right-wing parties in power throughout much of Europe.

  Despite the passage of seven decades since the independence of the country, the debate on citizenship is far from over. The Foreigners Act, 1946 and the Foreigners (Tribunals) Order, 1964 are seen as the pillars for both the detection and deportation of immigrants. A vast majority of the four million persons in Assam excluded from the draft are under deep mental and physical stress. First, there were 35 suicides. Then, from November 29 to December 15 2018, a short span of 19 days, five persons have fallen victim to distress deaths. It is time for all humanitarian and human rights groups to come out, assist and counsel the population to prevent such tragedies from recurring.
