  While being moved by the generous intentions which motivated these symbolic actions, we nevertheless take distance from some of these which, in fact, will further increase the alas already prevaling confusion between personal religious faith and communal identity politics. While indeed solidarity is very much needed, we call on well-meaning people to select other symbols when showing solidarity with the Christchurch massacre’s victims. Symbols which would not lead to ideological compromising with the Muslim far-right, under the pretext of fighting the anti-Muslims xenophobic far-right. It would be a major disaster if the racist homicides perpetrated in Christchurch against Muslim believers would, in the end, benefit the Muslim extreme-right. Let’s make sure it does not happen.

  Je veux commenter, dans cette lettre, le jugement rendu par le tribunal de la révolution islamique à mon encontre. Mais avant, je dois souligner que tout jugement rendu par ce tribunal se passe dans des conditions plus ou moins identiques et que les droits des inculpés sont sans cesse bafoués par l’absence de toute défense. Je veux souligner et rappeler que le caractère systématique de cette iniquité et l’étendue de sa portée bafouent les droits de la majorité des inculpés.

  On Thursday, October 3, sedition charges were slapped and FIRs filed against 49 filmmakers, artists and intellectuals who were signatories to an open letter written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in July. Through the letter, the signatories intended to draw the attention of the PM to the growing number of mob lynchings and incidents of caste and religion-based discrimination in the country.The sections under which the FIR has been registered include those related to sedition, public nuisance, and hurting religious sentiments among others.
