Efforts by Assange’s supporters to raise issue with his conditions of detention are met with total indifference.

Ireland-UK-USA: #FreeAssange Ireland marking Julian Assanges 50th Birthday and solidarity message to JADC
6 July 2021, by siawi3We believe that a good starting point in this regard is for you Mr Biden to heed the humanitarian appeal of Stella Morris for you to end this now and let Julians two little boys have their father back . It is in the power of you as President and your Administration to drop the appeal in the British Courts for the extradition of Julian, and to stop the process of charges against this innocent man. We in Ireland echo this call from Stella, and hope that you have enough sense of justice to do the right thing.

India: PRESS RELEASE: Teesta Setalvad roughed up as Gujarat ATS personnel barge into her home
30 June 2022, by siawi3Ms Setalvad was a co-petitioner in the case that was dismissed by the Supreme Court on Friday that challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s exoneration. Zakia Jafri, wife of Congress MP Ehsan Jafri who was killed in the riots, was the main petitioner. Setalvad is being targeted today as part of an elaborate witch hunt. In fact, many international publications have also vouched for this in their reports including those by New York Times, BBC as also organisations like Frontline Defenders. We sincerely urge friends of CJP, civil society, activists and journalists to come together to demand justice for Teesta Setalvad. In her complaint, Setalvad has stated that the assault left her with a bruise on her left hand, and that she feared for her life.

India: REFLECTIONS ON THE DEMISE OF FR. STAN SWAMY
7 July 2021, by siawi3Lets not forget that Fr. Stan is the victim not only of callous State action but also of the even more reprehensible indifference of the people at large. Today what is done to fellow human beings doesnt matter to us, so long as it has either the tang of ideology or the veneer of legality. So long as our own skin remains intact, we sail along without any pang of conscience. Let me, yet again, borrow the words of Pastor Niermoller: today it is Fr. Stan. Tomorrow it will be your neighbour. The day after . . . ?
