  Known as “Che’s Last Soldier,” Peredo died last year in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. His life was marked by the popular struggles that shook Bolivia throughout decades. The death of the guerrilla commander Chato, as a result of Covid-19— to which he was exposed while he continued to campaign for Arce despite being a high-risk patient— demonstrates the love for his Bolivian homeland and his desire to redirect the path of the revolution in the country.

  Studies of leftist movements have gained ground in the historiography in the years since the end of dictatorships in most of Latin America’s Southern Cone. Armed struggle is one key component of this literature. The 1960s and 1970s marked the peak of armed groups and political parties in the region. In Peru, armed conflict remained until the late 80s and 90s and had particular resonance and reach in the media, as most of the region was undergoing its democratic transition at the time.

  Vient de paraître récemment aux CNRS Editions un ouvrage collectif fort intéressant, codirigé par Amin Allal, Layla Baamara, Leyla Dakhli, Giulia Fabbiano et ayant pour titre « Cheminements révolutionnaires. Un an de mobilisations en Algérie (2019-2020) ». On peut considérer cet ouvrage comme un regard porté par des chercheurs en sciences sociales sur l’Algérie actuelle et sur la dynamique révolutionnaire qu’elle avait connue au cours de l’année 2019-2020, dans le but de comprendre à la fois l’espoir des acteurs du hirak et la manière avec laquelle ils ont vécu cette révolte.
